Again, I have no idea if this game on the whole is actually good or not, and had heard nothing about it until this moment, but it certainly grabbed it some attention. The end result of this is that Wired Productions is making the changes to meet the demands of Sony, but they’re not happy about it. But from the sound of Wired Productions statement, they’re not too keen on compromising their horror “vision” here.Īnother suggestion is to rate the game Adults Only (AO) instead of Mature (M) is somewhat untenable, given that AO games are effectively banned from all storefronts by default, meaning you might as well just not release the game at all. One middleground solution that does not appear to be offered is that some games have an option to disable especially graphic scenes that is offered at the beginning of a game or before a sequence. Others say that the censorship is unnecessary, pointing to ultra-violent scenes in games like The Last of Us Part II, and saying that clearly Xbox didn’t have a problem with the Martha sequence. There are camps that say knowing the context here of how brutal this scene is, they understand PlayStation’s actions. There are some good ideas here that deserved to be in a better game, but as it stands right now, Martha is Dead is a frustrating experience that fails to do justice to those ideas. This has set off a good old fashioned debate about video game violence, the likes of which we haven’t seen for a while now (getting “Manhunt” vibes with all this). The setting is beautiful and lovingly crafted, but actually playing the game often feels like a chore for one reason or the other. The narrative premise is unique and makes its distinct elements work together surprisingly well, but it’s pacing might very well turn you away if you don’t have the patience (or inclination) to stick with it. Thoughts- Martha Is Dead has a lot going for it, but it often gets in its own way. I am waiting for the game to pick up the pace but it never seems too. It feels so slow-paced even for an atmospheric horror game.

There are weird moments in the game and sections that just are not fun or scary and feel pointless. One of the best looking indie horror games that I have seen in years. The setting feels really authentic and immerses me in it's world.

The setting feels really Good- The narrative's premise and the story it sets up is one of the most inriguing I have played in years. Good- The narrative's premise and the story it sets up is one of the most inriguing I have played in years.
